Hopscotch announces two new venues + launches new website

Hopscotch 2011 will be held from September 8-10 in
Raleigh, NC
The second annual Hopscotch Music Festival in Raleigh is a little under a month away from their full lineup announcement on April 20, but that doesn't mean that the excitement can't start a little bit sooner.  A post on the newly updated website has given us a bit of new information on this year's festival.

In the weeks leading up to the lineup announcement we'll be getting a series of posts about Hopscotch 2011 from their website, but this week they dropped the announcement of two awesome new venues for the September 8-10 festival.  Last year's venues included Raleigh City Plaza, Kings, The Deep South Bar, Tir Na Nog, The Pour House, Five Star, Berkeley Cafe, The Hive @ Busy Bee, The Lincoln Theater, and Slim's.  Yesterday two more venues were added, one of which being Fletcher Opera Theater, located in the Progress Energy Center, and the other being White Collar Crime, located in the warehouse district.  Fletcher Opera Theater is a 600 capacity theater that will host, "a visionary Paris-based composer, a Chapel Hill folk band, a seminal trio of Australian improvisers, an experimental Brooklyn siren and many more".  So it seems like the speculation can already begin, and they've succeeded in at least getting one person excited for this because I'm practically giddy with anticipation now.

They've also announced that special launch parties will be happening in Raleigh, Chapel Hill, and Durham on 4/21, 4/22, and 4/23.  More information on the 3 day, 135 band, 12 venue festival known as Hopscotch can be found at their website at http://www.hopscotchmusicfest.com.  Lineup announcement and ticket sales will come on April 20.  Continue to check back for more Hopscotch updates!
