Hear Here: Week of March 14

It'll be hard to top all of the awesomeness that occurred in the Triangle last week with Sharon Van Etten, Wild Flag, Wye Oak, Telekinesis, and The Love Language all packed into one weekend, but I've got four words to rival that, Holy Ghost Tent Revival.  First headlining set by Holy Ghost Tent Revival at The Cat's Cradle and it's got a stacked lineup with The Big Picture and House of Fools.  Plus there's a two night stay from Chatham County Line in Durham at The Casbah, so this week looks to be just as awesome as the last.

Show of the Week:
Holy Ghost Tent Revival @ The Cat's Cradle in Chapel Hill, NC

Friday, March 18
Chatham County Line @ The Casbah in Durham, NC
Sold Out
Few things are as touching as a quiet room whose eyes are all focused in on four men singing delicately into a microphone, pelting out heartfelt lyrics in an almost entrancing way.  That is probably the best way to explain what The Casbah will be like for Friday and Saturday night in Durham.  When I saw Chatham for the first time at Troika it was in a packed out Motorco staring straight up at them, and it was breath taking.  They've proved to be one of the most consistent, on point live acts in the state and across the country.  This is one of the more exciting double headers I think the Triangle has seen in a while.

Saturday, March 19
Holy Ghost Tent Revival w/ The Big Picture, House of Fools @ The Cat's Cradle in Chapel Hill , NC
$8 in advance/ $10 day of
Holy Ghost Tent Revival is the most exciting live acts I've ever gotten the chance to see.  I've seen the band playing at houses, in court yards, on wooden stages, on park stages, and much more.  Getting the chance to see Holy Ghost Tent Revival at the Cats Cradle is something to jump all over, especially with openers as good as these.  Holy Ghost Tent Revival is a thrilling blend of folk-rock and ragtime music that absolutely demands attention, because these guys leave it all on stage.  They're one of the bands who really looks like they enjoy what they're doing at all times, and that's what makes it so great to see them continuing to get better and better.  Not to mention The Big Picture, local supergroup filled with Chapel Hill favorites from The Never and Annuals.  The Big Picture is an act you definitely want to come early to check out, they're a refreshing sound amongst the Triangle.  Opening also is Greensboro's House of Fools, an experimental rock band with tinges of americana, punk, and much more.  It's a night of excellent music from local bands, and it's a night that you've definitely got to check out if you're in the Triangle.

Chatham County Line, Night 2 @ The Casbah in Durham, NC

Night two of the Chatham County Line shows at The Cabah in Durham

Polvo w/ Wild Wild Geese and Free Electric State @ Kings Barcade in Raleigh, NC
$10
The Triangle rock legends of Polvo are playing at Kings this weekend with opening acts that will be tough to follow.  Wild Wild Geese was one of The Bottom String's top 10 albums of 2010 for North Carolina artists, and it's no wonder with members of Spiderbags, Americans in France, Toddlers, and Rongo Rongo comprising the ranks of the band.  Look forward to an exciting set from these guys who are quickly becoming a favorite around the Triangle.  Plus theres Free Electric State, signed to Churchkey Records, who take a crazy blend of shoegaze with indie rock grit and soaring vocals to bring a captivating sound to the table.  This is another great lineup full of awesome and energetic bands who will be sure to fill Kings with awesome tunes.
