Swans to play at Hopscotch

Swans will play Sept. 10 at Fletcher
Opera Theater at Hopscotch in Raleigh
For the first time ever, post-rock icons Swans will play a show in Raleigh, NC.  This year's Hopscotch Festival announced Swans as their first lineup addition today, announcing that the band was in the works to play at last year's event but didn't start rehearsals until the week after Hopscotch.  After a year of waiting and working, Grayson Currin announced the lineup addition on Hopscotch's website today.

Swans put out their first album in over 10 years back in 2010, "My Father Will Guide Me Up A Rope To The Sky", and it's just as superb, if not better, than the band's previous releases.  Their ambient post-punk sounds will be showcased at the September festival in one of the new venues, Fletcher Opera Theater.

Currin stated that,"Swans began to build a tour around their Sept. 10 date at Hopscotch in Fletcher Opera Theater, a venue we added with Swans and a few other particular artists in mind".  If Swans is any indication of the other bands that we'll be getting to see at Fletcher and throughout the weekend, then this year's Hopscotch may be one of the best events that North Carolina has ever seen.  Swans are known for having intensely powerful shows that have been touted for years as one of the most invigorating live experiences possible.
